ABOUT ME: DAVID LEVEY
DipAc. DipHyp. Dip NLP. Cert DE. GHR Registered
Over 30+ years experience
I first started working with people therapeutically back in 1987. Since then I have made it a personal goal to continually develop and enhance my therapeutic skills and throughout this time have trained and qualified as an Acupuncturist, a Humanistic Counsellor, a Client-Centred Psychotherapist, Hypnotherapist and Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) practitioner.
A therapist and a teacher
I have successfully helped hundreds of people to overcome and resolve problems on a physical, emotional, and psychological level. As both a therapist and teacher, I have used my knowledge and experience in Tai Chi Chuan and acupuncture to combine my understanding of Eastern philosophies with hypnotherapy and NLP. Each new skill and experience is used to reinforce my current work and way of being.
Empowering the individual
I have built up a large body of knowledge in the fields of humanistic psychology, complementary medicine and traditional Chinese medicine, my skills and experience having been developed with both individuals and groups. With a holistic approach to people and life, I concentrate on empowering the individual with particular emphasis on increasing self-awareness of the body, mind and spirit.
I offer all potential clients a free 15 minute telephone consultation which will allow me to find out a bit more about you, what you are having difficulty with and how I can help you to achieve your long-term goals and ambitions.
I currently teach Mindfulness to many different people, either individually or as groups and in a variety of different settings. It is becoming an increasingly popular therapeutic technique that is used within the workplace, helping staff to cope and manage with the stresses of tight deadlines and heavy workloads.
Engaging in regular mindfulness sessions can help us to reconnect with our bodies and the sensations they experience. Becoming more "mindful" in our every day lives can help reduce stress and encourage a general increase in a sense of wellbeing.

For most people this is a fast and effective treatment, with the average being 4-6 sessions. More complex issues may require further sessions. This can often be determined in the initial free phone consultation and I will only go on to treat you if I have a high degree of certainty that I can help you. I have also designed specific strategies to cut down on the number of sessions required by giving clients tailored exercises and techniques to support your progress in between sessions.
Hypnotherapy is widely acknowledged as a treatment for habit breaking, stress-related issues and is recognised by the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) as a treatment for Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS).
NLP techniques, principles and attitudes can provide a way for you to discard those self-imposed limitations that are holding you back. Now you can have a choice over how you feel, your emotions and your behaviour.
A therapy session usually lasts for one hour, with each session tailored to the individual client. The number of sessions required varies between individuals and what they wish to achieve - normally between two and six sessions once a week are recommended.
Tai Chi is a low-impact, slow-moving exercise combining deep breathing and relaxation with flowing movements. As you move, you breathe deeply and naturally, focusing your attention on your bodily sensations. A renowned stress-buster, research has shown that Tai Chi practice improves balance, strength and flexibility, and is good for your heart, your breathing and immune function, offering many of the benefits of more rigourous cardio exercise.
I run several weekly Tai Chi sessions around York and also run bespoke sessions for businesses and charities.
I'm based in York and work locally in Yorkshire as well as throughout the UK and abroad. I have treatment rooms available in York for you to attend or will travel to any location to suit your needs.
I can work with individuals and groups, both in a private and business capacity.
I look forward to hearing from you with any questions or queries you may have.
